Section 07812 Applied Fireproofing

SPECIFICATIONS (Short Form)

Fire resistive coating (intumescent) shall be A/D Firefilm® II as manufactured by A/D Fire Protection Systems and applied in strict accordance with local codes, ULC and/or Warnock Hersey classifications and manufacturer's printed instructions to Application thickness and locations shown on drawings and in specifications.

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
1.4.1 Intumescent fireproofing system to provide a fire resistance rating of hours for (column) (beam) (_______) in accordance with (ULC No.) (Warnock Hersey No.) (________).

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.6.1 Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing products of this Section
1.6.2 Applicator: (Approved, licensed and/or certified by the manufacturer of fireproofing materials.) (Company with minimum (_______) years (documented) experience.)
1.6.3 Product: Manufactured under ULC or Warnock Hersey Follow up Program. Each container or package shall bear ULC or Warnock Hersey label.
1.6.4 Field Inspection: An independent testing agency will be selected by the Architect or Engineer to test random samples, as applied, to verify thickness of intumescent fireproofing, in accordance with SSPC-PA2, Steel Structures Painting Council, "Paint Application Specification No. 2 - Measurement of Dry Paint Thickness with Magnetic Gages". Inspection shall be carried out prior to application of A/D Colorcoat top coat.

1.7 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
1.7.1 Conform to (applicable) (______) code for (fire resistance ratings).
1.7.2 Submit certification of acceptability of fireproofing materials to (authority having jurisdiction) (agency).

1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
1.8.1 Deliver and store materials at a temperature not below 10°C (50°F) in a dry, protected area, off ground in original, undamaged, sealed containers with manufacturer's labels and seals intact. Protect from freezing! Do not store in direct sunlight.
1. 8.2 Check "Freeze-Watch" indicators before accepting delivery of A/D Firefilm®II
1.8.3 Discard any materials which have come into contact with contaminants prior to actual use.

1.9 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS
1.9.1 Do not apply sprayed intumescent fireproofing when temperature of substrate and surrounding air is below 10°C (50°F). Use electric heat if supplemental heat is required.
1.9.2 Do not apply intumescent fireproofing until concrete toppings and/or roofing applications have been installed.
1.9.3 Provide ventilation in areas to receive work of this Section, during and 24 hours after application.
1.9.4 Relative humidity in work area must not exceed 75% throughout the total period of application and drying for the intumescent fireproofing, and must not exceed 65% throughout the application and drying for the protective decorative finish coat. Relative humidity of 40% to 60% is recommended in work area.

1.10 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING
1.10.1 Sequence work in conjunction with (ceiling hanger tabs,) (and)
1. 10.2 Steel surfaces with less than 1.0 meter clear working access may necessitate applying material to inaccessible surfaces prior to erection of the finished steel members, either at the point of fabrication or on-site.
